FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Social media influencer Jack Doherty, 22, was taken into custody Friday morning after Fort Lauderdale police responded to a domestic dispute at a home in the city’s Riverside Park neighborhood and determined he had been involved in a physical altercation with a woman inside the residence.
Doherty, who has built a following of more than 15 million subscribers on YouTube through prank and stunt videos, now faces a misdemeanor domestic battery charge in Broward County. The arrest marks his second run-in with Florida law enforcement in under a year, following a drug-related arrest in Miami Beach in November 2025 that was eventually resolved through a pretrial diversion program. As of Friday evening, he remained held at the Broward County Main Jail with no bond listed in online jail records, and no court date had been set.
Officers from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department arrived at the 1400 block of Southwest Fifth Court at approximately 11:56 a.m. Friday after receiving a report of a domestic dispute, according to the department. Upon arrival, police identified the man involved as Doherty. In a statement provided to media outlets, the department said, “Preliminary information revealed he and a female victim got into a physical dispute inside a residence. The female victim was not injured during the incident.” Doherty was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was booked on the misdemeanor domestic battery charge. His booking photograph, released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, shows a visible cut on his cheek, though authorities have not confirmed whether that injury was sustained during the dispute inside the home.
The exact circumstances that led to the physical confrontation have not been made public by police, and authorities have not released a detailed account of what occurred inside the residence before officers arrived. TMZ reported, citing a source described as close to Doherty, that his actions during the incident were taken in self-defense. That account has not been confirmed or addressed by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in any information released so far. The woman involved in the dispute was not identified by police, and no details about her relationship to Doherty were released. The department’s publicly available information does not indicate whether additional charges are pending or whether the investigation remains ongoing.
Friday’s arrest is not Doherty’s first encounter with South Florida law enforcement. Miami Beach police arrested him on Nov. 15, 2025, after officers conducting a high-visibility enforcement detail in the 700 block of Washington Avenue observed a group enter the roadway. Doherty, according to an arrest report, had positioned himself in the middle of the street to record video content for his social media channels, creating what officers described as a safety hazard for both drivers and himself. Officers issued repeated commands directing him to leave the roadway, but he refused, even as members of his group urged him to comply. When warned that continued refusal would result in arrest, Doherty replied, “Once I’m done with this bet,” according to the arrest documents. Officers then removed him from the road. During a search of his person, police found half of an orange oval-shaped pill with the number three imprinted on it, which was described as consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine, along with a black plastic container holding three hand-rolled cannabis cigarettes weighing approximately 4.0 grams combined.
Following the November 2025 Miami Beach arrest, Doherty faced a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, along with misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and resisting an officer without violence, according to Miami-Dade court records. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $3,500 bond, which he posted within 24 hours. In January 2026, he was formally charged, and in March, he was accepted into the Miami-Dade County Felony Drug Pre-Trial Diversion Program, which required him to waive his right to a speedy trial and fulfill mandatory program conditions. The marijuana possession charge was dropped entirely by the State Attorney’s Office. After Doherty successfully completed the program’s conditions, the court issued a final discharge certificate in May 2026, effectively clearing the path for the remaining charges to be dropped without a conviction. Broward County’s online records also show Doherty accumulated multiple traffic violations and misdemeanors in the Miami area between 2022 and 2026.
Doherty’s legal troubles exist against a backdrop of high-profile incidents that have drawn widespread attention to the influencer in recent years. In October 2024, he crashed a McLaren sports car valued at between $200,000 and $300,000 while livestreaming on the platform Kick in Miami-Dade County. Video from the stream showed him driving with one hand and glancing down at his phone at high speed in heavy rain before the vehicle lost control, hydroplaned, and struck a metal roadside barrier on what appeared to be the Florida Turnpike. The crash destroyed the front portion of the car. Doherty’s passenger, identified as Michael David, was taken to a hospital with blood visible on his face, while Doherty escaped without serious physical injury. Kick subsequently banned Doherty from its platform for violating safety guidelines. In June 2024, Davie police also responded to a swatting call at Doherty’s Southwest Ranches home, with body camera footage showing officers arriving to find the situation was not a genuine emergency — an officer had already confirmed Doherty was safe by viewing his active livestream on Kick at the time of the call.
After his November 2025 arrest in Miami Beach, Doherty spoke publicly about the experience after posting bond. “That was the worst 24 hours ever, I wish I did something crazier to make it worth it,” he told reporters outside the jail. He also commented on the circumstances of that arrest, saying, “I think it was a little excessive, I’m not going to lie. There was no traffic; it was three in the morning. I think they just wanted to lock me up, but fair enough, learned my lesson.” He later posted to TikTok with the caption “I got arrested last night, and now I’m free.” Regarding Friday’s domestic battery arrest, neither Doherty nor representatives for him had issued a public statement as of Friday evening. The Daily Mail reported it had reached out to representatives for Doherty for comment without receiving a response. Beyond his YouTube audience, Doherty has more than 2.7 million Instagram followers and nearly 11 million TikTok followers, with a combined following across platforms exceeding 25 million.
As of Friday evening, Doherty remained in custody at the Broward County Main Jail with a bond listed at $0.00 in online records, and no court date had been scheduled for the domestic battery case. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has not announced whether the investigation into the incident is continuing or whether further charges could follow. The next step in the case will be a first appearance before a Broward County judge, where the question of bond and formal charges will be addressed.
