COMPTON, CA — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a missing 6-year-old boy last seen with his caregiver in Compton earlier this week.
Saint Young disappeared Monday around 1 p.m. in the 2300 block of West Corydon Street while with his caregiver, 63-year-old Franita Sexton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Officials said there is concern for both their well-being as the search enters its fourth day. The case has prompted an active investigation by the department’s Compton Station, with authorities releasing detailed descriptions and vehicle information to aid in locating the pair.
Saint was last seen wearing his school uniform consisting of a white shirt and blue shorts when he vanished with Sexton on Monday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said in a news release. The boy is described as Black, 4 feet tall, weighing 60 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Sexton, also Black, stands 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 114 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white jacket and blue jeans. Deputies believe Sexton may be traveling in a black 2024 Kia four-door sedan bearing California license plate number 9LBV962.
The sheriff’s department has not disclosed the nature of Sexton’s relationship to Saint or whether she is a licensed caregiver. Officials also have not revealed what prompted the initial missing person report or whether any family members have been contacted. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance remain unclear, with investigators providing no details about potential destinations or reasons for concern beyond their prolonged absence. Deputies have not indicated whether this case involves a custody dispute or other family matter.
Missing child cases in Los Angeles County have drawn increased attention in recent months following several high-profile incidents. In May, a 7-year-old boy went missing in nearby Santa Monica, prompting a similar public appeal for information. Earlier this year, authorities located a missing Los Angeles County girl in North Carolina, where she had been living under a different name. The Compton area has seen various child safety concerns, making swift resolution of missing person cases a priority for local law enforcement agencies.
Anyone with information about Saint Young or Franita Sexton is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department immediately. The Compton Station On-Duty Watch Commander can be reached at (310) 605-6500 for tips or sightings. Deputies emphasized that even seemingly minor details about the pair’s whereabouts or the black Kia sedan could prove crucial to the investigation. The department has not announced plans for expanded search efforts or indicated whether other agencies will join the investigation.
The search continues as investigators work to piece together the timeline of events leading to Saint and Sexton’s disappearance. Sheriff’s officials stressed the urgency of locating both individuals and encouraged anyone who may have seen them since Monday to come forward immediately.
