Kentucky Man Orders 13-Year-Old to Kill Teen After Pistol-Whipping Attack

LOUISVILLE, KY — An 18-year-old Kentucky man faces murder charges after allegedly beating a teenager with a handgun and ordering his 13-year-old accomplice to shoot and kill the victim on a Louisville street.

Chrishau’d Davis was booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on Tuesday, charged with murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault in connection with the Friday afternoon shooting on the 900 block of South Shelby Street. The 13-year-old accomplice faces charges of attempted murder and two counts of assault. The incident has shocked Louisville authorities, who say surveillance footage captured the brutal sequence of events that left one teenager with multiple gunshot wounds.

The violence erupted around 4 p.m. Friday when Davis and the 13-year-old were captured on surveillance video physically fighting with another 13-year-old boy, according to an arrest citation obtained by regional Fox affiliate WDRB. Davis allegedly struck the victim in the head at least twice with a handgun during the confrontation. The surveillance footage then lost sight of all three individuals, but Davis and his alleged accomplice returned to the scene to retrieve personal items they had left behind.

What happened next, according to police, represents a chilling escalation of street violence. Davis allegedly grabbed a handgun from inside his jacket and handed the weapon to his 13-year-old accomplice while shouting “kill him,” court documents show. The younger suspect then allegedly shot the victim several times before both defendants fled the scene on foot. Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department arrived to find the shooting victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The extent of the victim’s injuries and current condition have not been disclosed by authorities.

The case highlights growing concerns about youth violence in Louisville, where police have documented increasing incidents involving juvenile suspects and firearms. Louisville Metro Police have not released additional details about what may have sparked the initial altercation between the teenagers or whether the suspects and victim knew each other prior to the confrontation. The surveillance footage that captured portions of the incident will likely serve as crucial evidence in the prosecution of both suspects, legal experts say.

Davis was scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Wednesday, while the 13-year-old suspect will face proceedings in juvenile court. Kentucky law allows prosecutors to seek adult charges for juveniles in certain violent felony cases, though no decision has been announced regarding whether the younger suspect will be tried as an adult. The murder charge against Davis carries a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison if convicted, while the assault charges add additional potential penalties.

The South Shelby Street area where the shooting occurred sits in a residential neighborhood that has experienced periodic violence in recent years. Local residents have called for increased police patrols and community intervention programs to address youth violence. The Louisville Metro Police Department continues investigating the incident and has not ruled out additional arrests. Davis remains held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections as the case moves through the court system.

Prosecutors will likely rely heavily on the surveillance footage and witness testimony as they build their case against both suspects. The incident stands as one of the most serious cases involving juvenile accomplices in recent Louisville criminal history.
