California Teen Charged With Murder After Stepfather Found Dead in Castaic Home

CASTAIC, CA – A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of his stepfather at a residence in the Santa Clarita Valley community, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials announced.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a home in the 31000 block of Castaic Road on Sunday evening, where they discovered the victim with fatal stab wounds. The stepfather was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The suspect, whose name has not been released pending formal charges, was taken into custody without incident. Investigators determined the fatal encounter occurred during a domestic dispute between the teen and his stepfather.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

The suspect is being held without bail at the Los Angeles County jail. He is expected to be arraigned on murder charges within the next 48 hours.

Sheriff’s officials have not released details about what sparked the domestic dispute or whether there was a history of violence at the residence. The investigation remains active.

Castaic is an unincorporated community in northern Los Angeles County, located approximately 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The area is patrolled by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
