BOSTON, MA – A 36-year-old Boston man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child exploitation and human trafficking following an investigation by local and state authorities.
Talik Rashaun Garcia was taken into custody Friday after investigators executed a search warrant at his Fenway apartment, according to the Boston Police Department. The arrest came after what police described as an extensive child exploitation and human trafficking investigation.
Garcia was arraigned Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court in Roxbury on charges including rape and abuse of a child aggravated by a 10-year age difference, and trafficking of persons for sexual servitude under the age of 18. Additional charges include posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct, dissemination of visual material of a child in a state of nudity or sexual context, and knowingly purchasing or possessing visual material of a child depicted in sexual conduct.
The defendant entered not guilty pleas to all charges during his court appearance. A judge set bail at $5,000 cash with strict conditions prohibiting Garcia from contact with the alleged victim and restricting his access to children other than his own.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Boston Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Squad, authorities said. Police indicated that evidence obtained during the investigation led directly to Garcia’s arrest.
Court records show Garcia was released after posting the required bail amount. The conditions of his release also specify that he cannot be alone with any minors except his own children.
An attorney representing Garcia has not responded to requests for comment regarding the charges. The case remains under investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.
The arrest highlights ongoing efforts by Boston-area law enforcement to combat child exploitation and human trafficking crimes. Both the Boston Police Department and Massachusetts State Police maintain specialized units dedicated to investigating these types of cases.
