Suspected DUI Driver Leads LAPD on Chase, Starts Dancing Before Surrendering at Gas Station

LOS ANGELES, CA – A woman suspected of driving under the influence led Los Angeles police on a pursuit Wednesday night before pulling into a gas station where she exited her vehicle and began dancing before eventually surrendering to officers.

The chase began when officers with the LAPD’s Wilshire Division attempted to stop the woman, who was reportedly behind the wheel of a Honda Civic, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The driver refused to pull over and led police through city streets.

The pursuit ended when the suspect pulled into a gas station at Bonnie Brae and 6th streets. She exited the Honda with her hands on her head but instead of immediately surrendering, she began dancing around the parking lot as officers approached, according to KTLA’s aerial coverage from Sky5.

The woman eventually got down on the ground and appeared to surrender. She briefly attempted to resist arrest, but officers quickly placed her in handcuffs and put her in the back of a patrol unit.

The entire incident was captured by KTLA’s Sky5 helicopter, which was overhead during the conclusion of the pursuit.

The suspect’s identity has not been released. Charges related to the DUI and the pursuit are expected to be filed.

No injuries were reported during the chase or the arrest.

  1. Suspend her driving PRIVILEGE at least until she gets herself straightened out. She could easily have maimed or killed someone.
