Cybertruck Driver Going 97 MPH Arrested in DUI Crash That Killed Woman Days Before Christmas

MIAMI, FL – A 21-year-old Cybertruck driver has been arrested in a fatal DUI crash that killed a woman just days before Christmas, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Dayron Ramirez-Mesa turned himself in on Thursday, nearly two months after the December 14 collision on Southwest 56th Street in Miami. He faces charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, reckless driving with property damage and DUI with property damage.

Authorities say Ramirez-Mesa was traveling westbound in his Tesla Cybertruck when he ran a red light and struck two vehicles whose drivers were making left turns at the intersection. One of those drivers, Dayana Abreu Perez, was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital but died from her injuries.

The Cybertruck’s black box recorded speeds reaching 97 miles per hour in the seconds before impact — more than double the 40 mph speed limit on that stretch of road. Deputies who responded to the scene observed bloodshot eyes and detected alcohol on Ramirez-Mesa.

Blood tests confirmed a blood alcohol content of 0.18, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida.

Ramirez-Mesa remained in custody at Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office facilities. Additional details about the case were not immediately released.
