Alabama Mother and Two Children Vanish From Home; Blood and Signs of Struggle Found Inside

THEODORE, AL – Authorities in Mobile County are searching for a mother and her two children after they disappeared from their South Alabama home over the weekend, leaving behind blood and evidence of a violent struggle.

Aurelia Choc Cac, her 17-year-old daughter Niurka Choc, and her 2-year-old son Anthony have not been seen since Friday evening, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. A neighbor called 911 Saturday morning after the mother failed to answer for her daily ride to work.

“I went in their house because we’re neighbors like that,” Maurice Simmons told investigators. “Nobody was answering.” Simmons said he had last seen Choc Cac around 7:30 p.m. Friday and noted that she does not drive or own a car.

When deputies entered the home, they found a disturbing scene. Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said there was “blood throughout the house but not large quantities” and clear signs of a physical confrontation. A mattress was missing from the residence, clothing had been dumped from hampers throughout the bedroom, and the hampers themselves were gone.

Despite the evidence of a struggle, investigators found no signs of forced entry into the home, deepening the mystery surrounding the family’s disappearance.

Local, state, and federal authorities have joined the investigation. Choc Cac’s ex-boyfriend and the toddler’s father was initially considered a person of interest but was located in Texas and has since been cleared, according to investigators.

Authorities said they believe the family was taken against their will and could be in danger. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed as investigators work to piece together what happened in the hours after the family was last seen.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Aurelia Choc Cac, Niurka Choc, or Anthony to contact investigators at 251-574-8633.
