19-Year-Old Charged With Double Murder at Halloween Party in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, CA – A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with a shooting at a Halloween party that left two men dead, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced.

Alejandro Trujillo of Newhall was located and taken into custody on February 2 after a months-long investigation into the double homicide that occurred on October 31 at a home on the 25000 block of De Wolfe Road in the Newhall area of Santa Clarita.

Elijah Harts, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting broke out at the gathering. A second victim, Anthony Mora, 27, was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of murder against Trujillo on February 4. He is being held without bail.

Homicide detectives with the Sheriff’s Department spent more than three months investigating the case before identifying Trujillo as the suspect. Details about what led to the shooting at the party have not been publicly disclosed by investigators.

The arrests bring some measure of closure to the families of Harts and Mora, who had been waiting for answers since the deadly Halloween night incident.

Anyone with additional information about the case is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
