Kentucky Man Allegedly Kills Wife and Leaves Body in Kitchen for Three Days, Tells Kids Mom Is Sleeping

BOWLING GREEN, KY – A Kentucky man allegedly beat his wife to death and left her body lying on the kitchen floor for three days while telling their children their mother was just sleeping, according to disturbing court documents released this week.

Salko Husejnovic, 31, has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence in the death of Jasmina Aljic. He’s being held on $1 million bond.

According to investigators, Husejnovic struck his wife during an argument at their Warren County home, causing her death. But instead of calling for help, he allegedly left her body on the kitchen floor and told the couple’s three children that their mother was sleeping.

The body remained there for three days.

A second defendant, 44-year-old Shelly Boyd, who is the girlfriend of Husejnovic’s brother, was present in the home during this time. She faces charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence and is being held on $50,000 bond.

After three days, the pair allegedly loaded Aljic’s body into a car and drove to Threlkel Ferry Road, where Husejnovic attempted to push the vehicle over a cliff. When that failed, he doused the car with gasoline and set it ablaze on January 19, court documents state.

Detective Tim Robinson testified that Husejnovic admitted he “struck her and she stopped breathing” and claimed “it was Boyd’s idea” to leave the body and start the fire.

The medical examiner determined Aljic was already dead when the fire started, finding no soot in her airway. Court records show she had previously obtained a restraining order against Husejnovic when the couple lived in Missouri.
