Georgia Police Search for Man Who Dropped Dead Woman at Hospital and Fled

AUGUSTA, GA – Police in eastern Georgia are searching for a man who dropped an unconscious woman at a hospital emergency room, then immediately fled the scene before anyone could question him.

The bizarre incident unfolded on Monday, January 20, when a man pulled up to an Augusta hospital with a woman slumped in his front passenger seat. A nurse came outside to help remove the woman from the vehicle.

But the moment hospital staff took the woman inside, the driver sped away without a word, leaving medical workers with no information about who the woman was or what had happened to her.

Despite their efforts, hospital staff couldn’t save her. The woman was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. She wasn’t carrying any identification.

Investigators used fingerprints to identify the deceased as Selena Johnson, 41. The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver as Michael Lee Harrelson, 47. He’s described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 153 pounds, bald with brown eyes. Authorities say Harrelson also has outstanding warrants on an unrelated case.

Harrelson is currently wanted for questioning in connection with Johnson’s death. Police have not specified how they identified him or what his relationship to the victim might have been.

Anyone with information about Harrelson’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1080.
