FBI Joins Search for Missing 14-Year-Old North Carolina Boy

IREDELL COUNTY, NC – The FBI has joined local authorities in the search for a 14-year-old boy who vanished from his North Carolina home this week under circumstances that remain unclear.

Gideon Ferguson was last seen Wednesday afternoon around 4 p.m. at his home off Watermoss Drive in the Amity Hill community, near Triplett Road in Iredell County.

The FBI Charlotte field office announced Thursday that agents are working alongside the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office to help locate the missing teenager. The involvement of federal investigators suggests authorities are treating the disappearance with urgency.

Search teams have deployed drones and canine units to scour the area surrounding Ferguson’s home. The terrain in the rural community presents challenges for search efforts.

Authorities have not disclosed whether they believe Ferguson left voluntarily or if foul play is suspected. Details about what he was wearing when he disappeared and other identifying information have not been released to the public.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have seen Ferguson or has information about his whereabouts to come forward immediately.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or contact Iredell County Emergency Communications at 704-878-3100.

The search is ongoing and investigators say time is critical in cases involving missing children.
