OCALA, FL – A former nurse is serving prison time after her husband walked in on her sexually assaulting his 15-year-old son, leading to her arrest, conviction, and the complete unraveling of her life.
Alexis Von Yates, 35, pleaded no contest to lewd and lascivious battery and was sentenced to two years in prison last fall. She’ll also serve two years of community control followed by ten years of sex offender probation, and must register as a sex offender for life.
The Florida Board of Nursing revoked her license last month following an October hearing. State health officials had suspended her license earlier, citing behavior that fell below standards of good moral character.
Her husband, Frank Von Yates, filed for divorce in December according to court records. The couple had married in November 2017 and had two children together.
The assault came to light in July 2024 when Frank returned home from his job as a lineman and discovered his wife with his son. The teenager, who had been visiting from out of state to spend time with his father and younger siblings, told investigators the pair had been together when they heard the garage door open.
According to the police report, they didn’t stop even after hearing Frank arrive. He walked in on them and began shouting and throwing objects.
The victim described to investigators how Von Yates had made inappropriate comments to him in the week leading up to the assault. On the night in question, she told him how long it had been since she’d been intimate, the teen said.
Von Yates later told her husband that the teenager reminded her of him, according to the police report.
At her sentencing hearing, the boy’s mother addressed the court, calling Von Yates a coward who systematically manipulated, groomed, and sexually abused a child.
Von Yates appeared in court wearing makeup and remained expressionless, declining to make any statement.
