Missing 4-Year-Old Florida Boy Found Dead in Alabama Woods After Three-Day Search

JASPER, AL – A massive search effort ended in tragedy when a missing 4-year-old Florida boy was found dead in the woods of rural Alabama, roughly two miles from his father’s home where he had been visiting for the holidays.

Johnathan Everett Boley, known to family as “John John,” vanished on New Year’s Eve while playing outside with his dog at his father’s property along Highway 195 near Jasper. The boy was last seen wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants, and Paw Patrol shoes.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers and volunteers joined the desperate search that stretched across several square miles of rugged terrain. Teams used K-9 units, drones, and aircraft to scour the heavily wooded area, but it took three agonizing days before searchers located the child’s body on January 2.

His dog was found alive near where the boy’s remains were discovered.

“John John” lived with his mother and siblings in Florida and had been visiting his father for the holidays as part of a custody arrangement. The family had gathered to celebrate the new year when the little boy wandered off.

Authorities have not released a cause of death pending completion of an autopsy. However, officials said there is currently no evidence indicating foul play in the child’s disappearance.

In a separate development, the boy’s father, Jameson Kyle Boley, 40, was arrested during the investigation on charges of unlawfully manufacturing a destructive device. Authorities emphasized that this charge is completely unrelated to his son’s disappearance and death.

A candlelight vigil was held in Parrish, Florida, where community members gathered to mourn the young boy whose short life ended in such heartbreaking circumstances. Family members have asked for privacy as they process the devastating loss.
