MT. JULIET, TN – Police in this Nashville suburb are investigating after a man and an infant boy were discovered dead inside a home on Christmas Eve, casting a shadow over the holiday in this tight-knit community.
Family members made the grim discovery Wednesday afternoon when they arrived at the residence on Sunset Drive to find the bodies, according to the Mt. Juliet Police Department.
Authorities have not released the names of the deceased or their relationship to each other. The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation.
Police Chief Tyler Chandler expressed the weight of the tragedy on the department and the community.
“This evening’s tragic discovery weighs heavily on us all, especially during Christmas,” Chandler said in a statement. “Our hearts are with the family affected as we conduct a thorough investigation into what occurred.”
Investigators emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety and asked the community to respect the privacy of the grieving family.
Police said they are in the early stages of the investigation and additional details will be released at a later time as the case develops.
