NYPD Hunts Suspect Who Stabbed Jewish Man While Making Antisemitic Statements

NEW YORK, NY – Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a 35-year-old Jewish man in the chest while making antisemitic statements during an unprovoked attack in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood.

The hate crime unfolded around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Lincoln Place. According to the NYPD, the unidentified attacker approached the victim and began making anti-Jewish statements before pulling out a knife and plunging it into his chest.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is expected to recover from his non-life-threatening wound. The suspect fled on foot toward Sterling Place and Albany Avenue and has not been apprehended.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation and released images and video footage of the suspect in hopes that someone will recognize him. Detectives are canvassing the area for additional surveillance footage and witnesses.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned the attack in a statement. “Evil, hateful, antisemitic violence must come to an end,” Adams said. The mayor has faced pressure to address rising antisemitic incidents across the city.

Crown Heights, home to a large Orthodox Jewish community, has been the site of previous hate crimes targeting Jewish residents. The neighborhood’s religious population makes it a frequent target for those harboring antisemitic views.

Anyone with information about the attack is urged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls can be made anonymously.

The investigation remains active as police work to identify and apprehend the suspect before he can strike again.
