HERMOSA BEACH, CA – A violent attack by a group of teenagers on electric dirt bikes was captured on video and has gone viral after the suspects were seen beating a man who was simply walking down an alley carrying a pizza box.
The incident occurred near 11th Court, about a block from the famous Hermosa Beach pier. Footage quickly circulated on social media shows the victim walking through an alleyway when he encountered several teenagers at the end of the passage.
According to police, the man briefly spoke with the group before they suddenly began attacking him, punching him and dragging him to the ground. While he lay incapacitated, one suspect repeatedly struck him with his own pizza box while another stomped and kicked him.
As the group prepared to leave on their electric dirt bikes, one of the alleged attackers appeared to photograph or film the beaten victim before riding away.
Police said the attack does not appear to have been targeted, suggesting the victim may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The man was hospitalized following the assault but has since been released and spoke with officers on Monday. Police also made contact with the parent of one juvenile suspect, who reached out to authorities after recognizing their child in the viral videos.
Local business owners say the group involved is known for causing trouble in the area. Geoff Van Sickle, who owns Strand Electric Bike Company in Hermosa Beach, told reporters he has witnessed similar behavior before.
“They run around and cause a lot of trouble,” Van Sickle said. “These kids are noted for constant trouble. They run in packs of five to six bikes at a time. I’ve witnessed attacks in Redondo. They circle people and then they attack them.”
Van Sickle also noted that the electric dirt bikes the group rides are illegal to operate on public streets.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not announced any arrests.
