YORK, NE – A Nebraska man faces assault charges after allegedly beating a victim with a hammer until the tool broke, then switching to a fire extinguisher to continue the brutal attack at a local motel.
Roger Abramson, 49, was arrested by York County sheriff’s deputies following the violent assault that left two men hospitalized. The incident occurred at a motel in York, where Abramson allegedly attacked both victims in a sustained and vicious manner.
According to the victim’s account, Abramson struck him with a hammer between 10 and 15 times. The assault continued with such force that the hammer eventually broke from the repeated blows. Rather than stop, Abramson allegedly grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and used it as a weapon, striking the man an additional 6 to 8 times.
During the savage beating, Abramson reportedly taunted his victim with chilling words. “Aren’t you dead yet?” he allegedly asked while continuing the assault. He then threatened, “I’m going to kill you,” according to the police report.
Both victims sustained serious injuries requiring immediate medical attention and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed, though authorities confirmed both men survived the attack.
Deputies responded to the motel after receiving reports of an assault in progress. They found the injured victims and quickly took Abramson into custody at the scene without further incident.
Abramson has been charged with assault and making terroristic threats. A judge set his bond at $200,000, reflecting the severity of the alleged crimes. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for his initial hearing.
Investigators have not revealed what may have triggered the violent outburst or whether Abramson knew his victims prior to the attack. The case remains under investigation as prosecutors review evidence and witness statements.
