Pennsylvania Father Charged with Beating 2-Month-Old Son to Death

BUTLER, PA – A Pennsylvania father faces homicide charges after allegedly beating his 2-month-old son to death Saturday while the infant was under his sole care, authorities said.

Vincent Miceli, 32, was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of children following the death of his infant son.

Emergency responders received a 911 call shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday reporting that the baby was not breathing. The child was rushed to Butler Memorial Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.

An autopsy determined the infant died from blunt force trauma to the head, according to investigators. Police documented bruising on the child’s head and torso when they responded to the scene.

Authorities said the 2-month-old boy had been under Miceli’s care alone during the daytime hours Saturday when the fatal injuries occurred.

Pennsylvania State Police conducted extensive interviews with both the child’s mother and father before making the arrest. Investigators have not released additional details about what led to the fatal assault or whether there was any prior history of abuse.

The charges Miceli faces carry severe penalties under Pennsylvania law. Criminal homicide is the most serious charge, encompassing various degrees of murder and manslaughter. Aggravated assault and child endangerment charges can add substantial prison time.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about infant safety and the heightened vulnerability of very young children who cannot speak for themselves or escape dangerous situations.

Miceli remained in custody Monday. Court information and bail details were not immediately available.

The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the circumstances that led to the infant’s death.
