LONG BEACH, CA – Detectives arrested two suspects Sunday in connection with a fatal shooting that followed a bar fight early Saturday morning, authorities announced.
Jason Loving, 41, of Harbor City, and Dasmine Hall, 31, of Compton, were taken into custody and booked on murder charges after a confrontation on La Verne Avenue turned deadly, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:39 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of La Verne Avenue. They arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Police have not yet released the victim’s identity.
The shooting stemmed from an earlier incident at a local bar, investigators said. After leaving the establishment, a group became involved in an altercation on La Verne Avenue, during which a man allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing in a vehicle.
Detectives arrested both suspects in Compton on Sunday and transported them to Long Beach City Jail, where they were booked for murder with bail set at $2 million each.
Loving faces additional charges including prohibited possessor and a restraining order violation. Hall was also booked for accessory to murder, police said.
The investigation into the deadly confrontation remains ongoing as authorities piece together the events that led from a bar dispute to a fatal shooting on a Long Beach street.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Long Beach Police Department.
