LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities are searching for the driver of a black Audi SUV who struck and killed a 74-year-old woman in a crosswalk Friday evening before fleeing the scene.

The collision occurred around 5 p.m. on Oct. 24 near Pico Boulevard and Fox Hills Drive in West Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division.

The victim, a local resident, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency responders arrived. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel attempted to provide medical aid, but the woman succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators described the suspect vehicle as a black Audi SUV, possibly a Q3 model. The driver fled the area immediately after the collision without stopping to render aid or identify themselves to authorities.

Detectives from the West Traffic Division are leading the investigation and reviewing surveillance footage from businesses in the area. They are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The intersection where the crash occurred is a busy commercial area frequented by pedestrians throughout the day. Authorities have not yet determined what factors may have contributed to the collision.

Anyone with information about the crash or the suspect vehicle can contact West Traffic Detectives or submit anonymous tips through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. A reward may be available for information leading to the driver’s arrest and conviction.
