RANDOLPH, MA – A 57-year-old Dorchester woman died from injuries sustained in a pedestrian crash in Randolph earlier this month, the Norfolk County District Attorney announced.
Ruth Samuels was struck by a vehicle on the morning of Oct. 14 and succumbed to her injuries two days later at a Boston hospital, according to District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
The collision occurred in the area of Warren Street and Silver Street in Randolph at approximately 6:24 a.m., the district attorney’s office said in a press release.
Samuels was transported to a Boston-area hospital following the crash where she received treatment for her injuries. Despite medical intervention, she was pronounced dead on Oct. 16.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Samuels, identified as a 48-year-old woman, remained at the scene following the collision, according to Morrissey’s office. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity.
As of Thursday, no criminal charges had been filed in connection with the fatal crash. The incident remains under active investigation by local police and the district attorney’s office.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision, including factors such as road conditions, visibility and the actions of both the driver and pedestrian at the time of the crash.
The intersection of Warren Street and Silver Street is a residential area in Randolph, located approximately 15 miles south of Boston. Authorities have not indicated whether any changes to traffic patterns or safety measures at the location are being considered.
