Man Charged After Dismembered Body Found in Brooklyn Bin

BROOKLYN, NY – A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged with concealing a human corpse after police discovered dismembered remains in a Brooklyn garbage bin last week, authorities announced Sunday.

Christopher Moss was taken into custody Sunday and faces charges of concealment of a human corpse in connection with the grisly discovery, according to the New York Police Department.

The investigation began Friday when police made a disturbing discovery outside 557 East 21st Street in Brooklyn. Officers found a severed head and torso inside a garbage bin at the residential location.

Detectives with the NYPD immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery. The body parts were transported to the medical examiner’s office for analysis and identification.

As of Sunday evening, authorities have not publicly identified the victim. The medical examiner continues to work on determining the individual’s identity and the cause of death.

Investigators have not disclosed the relationship, if any, between Moss and the victim. Police have not revealed what evidence led them to arrest Moss or whether additional charges may be filed.

The discovery has shocked residents in the East Flatbush neighborhood where the remains were found. Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline.

Moss is being held pending arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court. The investigation into the death remains active and ongoing, with detectives continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
