STATEN ISLAND, NY – A person is in custody after a man was found dead inside a Staten Island residence Monday afternoon in what authorities are calling a domestic incident.
The New York Police Department responded to a call at 380 Cary Avenue around 4:24 p.m. Officers discovered the victim had been stabbed multiple times in the head and neck.
Sources familiar with the investigation say the victim was decapitated with a knife. The gruesome nature of the attack has shocked the residential neighborhood.
Police have not released the identities of either the victim or the person in custody. Authorities are investigating the incident as a domestic-related homicide.
The relationship between the victim and the suspect has not been disclosed by investigators. No charges have been publicly announced at this time.
