Queens Stabbing and Fire Leaves One Dead, Multiple Injured Including NYPD Officers

QUEENS, NY – A violent domestic incident left one woman dead and multiple people injured, including several NYPD officers, after a man allegedly stabbed two victims and set fire to a Queens home Thursday evening.

Police received a 911 call at approximately 3:56 p.m. reporting a stabbing on Smart Street in Queens. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a fire had been set at the residence, authorities said.

Investigators found two stabbing victims inside the home. A 17-year-old male and a 50-year-old woman had both been stabbed multiple times. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced the woman dead.

The teenage victim’s condition was not immediately disclosed by authorities. The male suspect, who allegedly attacked the two victims before setting the building ablaze, was taken into custody at the scene.

The New York City Fire Department responded with substantial resources, dispatching 12 fire units and 60 firefighters to battle the blaze and secure the structure. The fire added complexity to an already dangerous situation for first responders.

Emergency Medical Services transported at least eight patients to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident. Among those injured were multiple NYPD officers who responded to the scene. One person at the scene declined medical attention.

The exact nature and severity of injuries to the officers and other patients has not been released. The status of several victims remains unclear as the investigation continues.

Police have one suspect in custody and are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack and fire. Authorities have not released the names of the suspect or victims, pending notification of family members.

The incident appears to be domestic in nature, officials indicated. Domestic violence affects an estimated 10 million people in the United States every year, according to national statistics.
