Apple Unveils Ultra-Thin iPhone Air and Next-Generation Products at Major Event

CUPERTINO, CA – Apple introduced its thinnest smartphone ever Tuesday, debuting the iPhone Air alongside updated watches and wireless earbuds at the company’s highly anticipated fall product launch.

The iPhone Air, measuring just 6.25mm thick, represents Apple’s boldest design departure in years. The ultra-slim device maintains full functionality while reducing thickness by nearly 30% compared to current models.

“This is the biggest leap we’ve ever made in iPhone design,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook during the two-hour presentation at the company’s Cupertino headquarters. “We’ve reimagined what a smartphone can be when every millimeter matters.”

Apple’s engineering team achieved the dramatic reduction through revolutionary battery technology and custom silicon architecture. The device features a new titanium-aluminum alloy frame and eliminates the traditional Lightning port in favor of wireless-only charging and data transfer.

The iPhone Air lineup includes three screen sizes—6.1-inch, 6.7-inch, and a new 5.4-inch model—all featuring Apple’s ProMotion displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz. Advanced camera systems include computational photography improvements and enhanced low-light performance.

Alongside the iPhone Air, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 11 with health monitoring capabilities previously requiring medical equipment. The smartwatch can now detect irregular heart rhythms, blood oxygen levels, and sleep apnea indicators with clinical-grade accuracy.

AirPods Pro 3 received significant upgrades including real-time language translation and ambient sound customization. The wireless earbuds can translate conversations between 40 languages instantly, displaying text on connected devices while providing audio translation.

Industry analysts praised Apple’s innovation while questioning consumer acceptance of wireless-only design. “The iPhone Air pushes boundaries, but ditching ports entirely could alienate professional users,” said technology researcher Sarah Kim.

Apple’s stock jumped 4% in after-hours trading following the announcement. The company expects the new products to drive holiday sales as consumer demand for premium devices remains strong despite economic uncertainties.

Pre-orders begin Friday, with the iPhone Air starting at $899 for the base model. The 256GB and 512GB variants will cost $1,099 and $1,299 respectively. Availability in stores begins September 22.

The launch continues Apple’s strategy of premium positioning while expanding product categories. “We’re not just selling devices—we’re creating an ecosystem that anticipates user needs,” Cook explained during the presentation.
