Over 100 teens at drug and alcohol fueled party hosted at school principal’s house, say police in Florida

COCOA BEACH, FL – Chaos erupted recently at an elementary school principal’s home, where a party spiraled out of control, culminating in underage drinking, fights, and a gun scare. Authorities have gleaned new insights into the tumultuous event that unfolded on January 19.

Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, 47, the principal of Roosevelt Elementary School, hosted the event at her residence, attracting over 100 young attendees. The aftermath saw Hill-Brodigan facing several charges including child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The party reportedly commenced an escalating series of disturbances at around 8:45 p.m., drawing police due to complaints about loud noise, alcohol abuse, and possible drug use. Upon contact, Hill-Brodigan assured officers she would return home to resolve the situation but, according to authorities, the festivities persisted unabated.

An affidavit disclosed by local detectives highlighted that such gatherings were a regular occurrence at the principal’s home, with students acknowledging her role as a head of the school. The event on January 19 was reportedly orchestrated by her sons and advertised on social media platform Snapchat.

Within the house, a variety of alcoholic beverages in coolers were made available, and marijuana usage was evident. A particularly alarming incident at the party involved a masked teen pointing a firearm, which was later discovered to be a Beretta pistol, at another partygoer filming the scene. Although no weapons were found by responding officers, the situation nonetheless added to the chaos.

The night further devolved with physical altercations, including a student being slapped following an altercation involving several others. Police also apprehended a female participant for DUI, alongside another juvenile in possession of marijuana.

As events spiraled, one minor was discovered outside Hill-Brodigan’s home requiring medical attention for excessive intoxication. The juvenile’s condition necessitated intervention by Brevard County Fire Rescue.

Although Hill-Brodigan initially distanced herself from the debacle, claiming ignorance of the party’s nature, testimonies from students contradicted this, suggesting her tacit approval and assistance in its preparations.

Subsequent to her arrest, Hill-Brodigan was released on a $3,500 bond. Meanwhile, she and another woman associated with the incident were placed on administrative leave by Brevard Public Schools as investigations proceed. The status of legal representation for those involved remains undisclosed.

This incident has raised questions about accountability and safety within the local community, prompting further scrutiny from both law enforcement and educational authorities.
