LOS ANGELES, CA – Sting, the iconic musician known for hits like “Every Breath You Take,” is postponing several upcoming events, including concerts and an award show appearance, due to health issues. The announcement came early this week as the singer’s management advised adjustments to his schedule for medical reasons.
According to an Instagram post, Sting, whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, will delay concerts in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California.
The Phoenix show, initially set for January 24, will now take place on June 1. The Wheatland concert, initially slated for January 26, is rescheduled for May 28. In addition, Sting’s performance at the Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th-anniversary event in Los Angeles has been postponed from January 25 to May 29.
Ticket holders are encouraged to keep their tickets as they will be honored on the rescheduled dates. “Sting sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks fans for their understanding,” the post details.
In addition to his concert schedule, Sting will also miss the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday, where he was set to receive a lifetime achievement honor. This comes as a disappointment to both fans and fellow musicians who were eager to celebrate his storied career.
Recently, Sting’s family faced personal challenges as well. During an interview with the Sunday Times, Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler, revealed that their son Joe’s home was lost to the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. She expressed the difficulty of the situation, especially with Joe’s young children involved, but noted they have found temporary accommodation that is friendly to their pets.
Despite these setbacks, Sting was announced as one of the performers joining an all-star lineup, including Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga, for FireAid’s wildfire relief concert in Los Angeles on January 30. There is no confirmation yet on whether he will participate in the event given his current health status.
Fans worldwide are sending well-wishes for a speedy recovery as they await updates on future engagements. Sting’s ability to balance personal adversity with his commitment to music continues to resonate with audiences around the globe.
